Spring is here and so are covid vaccinations so many I know are looking forward to being able to take a trip again in the near future. With Vancouver Island having so many beautiful places to see and explore, I wanted to share a few great places to stay when you visit Vancouver Island that are pet-friendly!
1. Here on the North Island, in Port Hardy, the Quarterdeck Inn & Marina Resort is pet friendly. In fact, a dog bed, treats, and a bowl will be provided in the room, and there is a grassy pet relief area near the hotel. How wonderful is that?
2. If you're traveling to the central Island, be sure to check out the Qualicum Beach Inn which offers treats, pet beds, water bowls, pet dishes, and waste bags if needed. There is also a green space on-site for pet use.
3. If you have to head down to Victoria, I cannot say this one enough because it is one of my FAVORITES!!!! Head over to the Accent Inns. Above and beyond the pet stay these guys are great at making you feel at ease and always go way above and beyond to help you and Fido have a great stay. The staff always go way above and beyond to make your stay great and their human goodie bags are filled with delights for every human traveling with their fur-kids! From dad's cookies to the best hot chocolate and even real cream for your coffee or tea (they even have an electric kettle for your fellow tea lovers!) And before I forget, don't forget to ask for your amazingly adorkable rubber duckie you get to take home! They have a ton of them and are totally worth collecting (we already have 3!) The beds are as soft as clouds and make for an amazing night's sleep. They even have bike rentals and a bike cleaning station if you want to go for a ride with Fido on your trip! They're even eco-friendly! When it comes to location it's fantastic because not only is it far enough from downtown to escape the maze but it is still close to everything you need but, these guys are as passionate about pets as I am (and just about as PUNNY too!) They will provide a dog bowl, bandana, special towels, pet-designated rooms, poop bags, and treats - just be sure to let them know Fido came with you! There is a grassy pet relief area on the property, and Rutledge Park is one block from the hotel for all your fur-kids outside time needs. Unlike some "pet-friendly" places your pet is welcome to join you on the "FUR"niture and you are able to leave your pet unattended as long as you leave a number to reach you just in case Fido gets a bit lonely while you're away. Did I mention they even donate a percentage to the BCSPCA with every pet visitor? WOWZERS!
4. And last but most certainly not least - and is high up on my own personal bucket list of pet-loving adventure places to go! Not only does it have views for days to die for but they are as crazy about furkids as I am! So, if you're out towards the Pacific Rim, I highly recommend checking out Ocean Village Tofino! They are located on the dog-friendly shores of MacKenzie Beach and even have wash stations to hose off Fido after a fun romp on the beach! wash the sand from their fur (trust us, there will be sand) and biodegradable bags for cleaning up after Fido.
There you have it some of my favorite places to hang out and explore Vancouver Island with your fur-kids this spring - or, well, any time of year really!
