Sharing Our Fall Bucket List and Favorite Fall Recipes!

Happy First Day of Fall everyone! Can you believe it's here already!? It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating springs arrival and now, here it is, Fall!

As someone who is not so heat or sun tolerant, spring and fall are some of my favorite weather times of the year! The air is crisp, my mug full of all things Chai, and evenings are spent enjoying the fireplace and being curled up under the covers watching a great movie with my fur-kids.

So today I thought I'd share my fur-kids and as a fun bonus? 4 of my favorite human and pet FALL treat recipes! I've also added a fun copy of a fun Autumn Pet Bucket List for you to download and print off for your home, so be sure to check it out at the bottom of this blog post!

So without further ado, here are our Bucket List items and I be sure to watch for some fun updates about these items too! We can't wait to see your list too and your fall adventures here on the beautiful North Island!

  1. Take a walk in the fall foliage together and keep getting those steps in together

  2. Take time to catch up on reading some amazing books under the covers with a hot mug of chai or apple cinnamon tea! YUM!

  3. Make fall-flavored treats: Apple, Pumpkin...maybe even some turkey?!

  4. Take amazing fall photos to celebrate!

  5. Make a gratitude list for Thanksgiving

  6. Enjoy some fall movies + shows on Netflix, Hallmark + don't forget Charlie Brown!

Now, fall is all about being warm, cozy, and indulging in the tasty flavors of fall! So, here are some great recipes for you AND your pet to enjoy this fall!

Apple Pet Treat Recipe

First up this tasty Apple-Cinnemon-Oatmeal Dog Treat Recipe! Talk about a fall flavor bonanza from that you can find HERE


1 1/2 cups rolled oats

1 1/2 cups oat flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 egg

½ cup apple sauce

1 tablespoon honey


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Add rolled oats, oat flour, and cinnamon to a large bowl. Combine well.

  3. Add egg, apple sauce, and honey to dry ingredients and combine.

  4. Knead the dough with hands for about 2 minutes. When the mixture is firm, roll out to ½-inch thickness.

  5. Cut dough with a cookie cutter and place treats onto parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

  6. Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes.

  7. Remove from oven and let cool on racks.

  8. Store in airtight containers and keep in refrigerator or freezer.

Crock Pot Apple Spiced Cider from Learning Ideas For Parents that you can find HERE


  • 1/2 gallon apple cider

  • 1/2 cup orange juice

  • 1/8 cup lemon juice

  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves

  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg

  • 1/2 tsp. ginger

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 sticks cinnamon


  1. Mix all ingredients in a 4-quart crockpot.

  2. Simmer on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.

  3. Your cider is now ready to enjoy it!

  4. The cider will keep in the crockpot for several more hours.

  5. If you do not consume all of the cider, allow to cool and transfer to a pitcher.

  6. Store in the refrigerator and reheat cups of cider as needed.

Pumpkin Pet Treat Recipe

How about something a little more fun for the pups? So here's one for Peanut Butter Pumpkin Pupcakes! How amazing would these be while watching your favorite fall movie or football game?!


  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 1/4 cup old fashioned oats

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 carrots, peeled and shredded


  • 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 6 Milk-Bone biscuits, small


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 6-cup standard muffin tin with paper liners; set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, baking powder, pumpkin, apple sauce, vegetable oil and eggs. Stir in carrots.

  1. Scoop the batter evenly into the muffin tray. Place into oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a tester inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese and peanut butter.

  3. Use a small offset spatula or a pastry bag fitted with decorative tip #1M to frost the cupcakes, garnished with Milk-Bone, if desired.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar packed

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 large eggs


  • 4 ounces cream cheese at room temperature

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice


  • 1 8 ounce block cream cheese, room temperature

  • 1/2 cup butter room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 cups powdered sugar


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners; set aside.

CHEESECAKE FILLING: In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with paddle attachment, beat cream cheese, sugar and pumpkin pie spice on medium speed until combined and creamy; set aside.

  • CUPCAKES: In a large bowl, combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and salt.

  • In another large bowl, stir/whisk together pumpkin puree, sugars, vegetable oil and eggs. Pour wet mixture over dry ingredients and stir until combined.

  • Scoop about 1/4 cup or slightly less batter into each muffin liner. Drop 2 teaspoons cream cheese filling into the center of each cup. Top with remaining batter to completely cover the filling. Place into oven and bake for about 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool completely before frosting.

  • CREAM CHEESE FROSTING: In a large bowl, add cream cheese, butter and vanilla. Beat with an electric hand-mixer on medium speed until well combined. Gradually blend in powdered sugar. Frost cooled cupcakes then enjoy! (To pipe the frosting as pictured I used a Wilton 1A tip and piping bag.)
